South Quantock Heritage Trails

The South Quantock Heritage Trails were launched on the Ride and Stride Day on Saturday 9th September 2017 . Whether you are walking, cycling, driving or maybe just browsing around one or more of these fascinating places, you will find something to interest you. Free booklets are available at West Monkton, Cheddon Fitzpaine, Kingston St Mary and Broomfield churches which are all open in daylight hours. There are four walks and two cycle rides which start from either West Monkton or Kingston St Mary churches where there is ample parking.

From the nationally important restoration of Gertrude Jekyll’s gardens at Hestercombe to searching for ‘hunky-punks’ at St. Mary’s, Kingston; from the stocks in West Monkton churchyard to the woods and streams at Fyne Court, from the fascinating Industrial Heritage of the Bridgwater-Taunton Canal with part of a National Cycle Route on its towpath, to the beauty of the Quantock Hills, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty: and learn how the five-century Warre family story history connects the parishes with Hestercombe; come and explore …. there is something for everyone and heaps for all to do.
