BROOMFIELD LIFE AND LANDSCAPE
A PHOTO COLLECTION FOR THE DIAMOND JUBILEE
As part of the Jubilee celebrations in 2012 there is proposal to collect photographs taken in the parish from 1952 to the present day. The collection of photographs that results will be permanently kept on our website and updated by parishioners in the future. The 12 favourites (as voted for by parishioners at the Jubilee Celebration on Monday 4th June 2012 at “Bush Camp” Lydeard Farm) may be made into a calendar.
So everyone is encouraged to take photos over the next 6 months and help to create a permanent record of the life of the parish today and that illustrate how we live in the parish now and celebrate what is important to them. The five categories are: 1 Homes and houses; 2 Places & views; 3 People & family life; 4 Working life and 5 Leisure, play and celebrations.
Alongside this, long-term residents are being asked to share some of their photographs of life in the parish 60 years ago to showcase how things have changed. So if you know anyone who has interesting photos from the 1950s onwards taken in Broomfield, ask if they will allow them to be scanned onto a computer as part of the celebrations.
For more details of how to submit your photos or if you know about any old photos that will need scanning in please contact Karen Hughes on 01823 451541
