BROOMFIELD JUBILEE PARTY
Monday 4th June at “Bush Camp” Lydeard Farm
Every home in the parish has had a visit or letter from Michael Kingscote recently to gauge the level of interest in the party being planned to celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee. Michael has generously offered to host the party at the “Bush Camp” site at Lydeard Farm which is a grassy amphitheatre with a covered eating area, fire pit, barbeque and all amenities.
A large proportion of Parish residents have said they are interested in the proposal. All households should have received a personal invitation. The numbers will be limited to 150 so an early RSVP is recommended!
The party will start, with a formal opening at 3.30pm followed by afternoon games, pony rides, fun activities or merely relaxing, with music provided by the Lazy River Jazz Quintet, which was such a “hit” last June at the village hall tea party. This will be followed by a hog roast with strawberries for dessert. While some drinks will be provided, everyone will be asked to bring a bottle or two to put behind the bar as well as chairs or blankets to sit on. Those that want to stay late and enjoy the atmosphere of our beloved Quantock Hills are most welcome to do so.
Tickets will be free to Parish residents. If you wish to be on the list for tickets please email Peter Hall at peter@broomfieldparish.org or telephone Peter on 01823 451981 or Mary Johnson on 01823 451380
There will also be a community church service on Sunday 3rd June at 6pm to which everyone is very welcome of course. The church will be decorated and there will be trumpeters. It is also intended that all primary age schoolchildren in the parish will receive a momento of the Jubilee, which will be distributed after the service. Again please contact Peter or Mary with your child’s name if you wish them to be included.
