“OUT OF AFRICA” VENUE FOR DIAMOND JUBILEE CELEBRATIONS IN BROOMFIELD
Monday 4th June 2012
An afternoon and evening event is being planned in Broomfield to enable everyone who lives in the Parish to come together to celebrate the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.
The first exciting piece of news is the unusual venue: “Outposts” the adventure company based at Lydeard Farm has kindly offered the use of its Bush Camp site for the event. With a large camp fire at the base of amphitheatre-style seating and built in barbeque and toilet facilities nearby, the location is going to provide an atmospheric venue for a great event.
It is early days in the organisation of the party, but the date of Monday 4th June has already been agreed. The Lazy River Jazz Band, that was so popular at the summer Tea Party at the Village Hall, has been booked and the small committee of residents who have come together to plan the event are turning their thoughts to raising the funds that will be needed if the event is to be free to parishioners.
The Village Hall committee has offered to hold an auction of framed pictures and garden ornaments (see page? of “Link Up”) with the proceeds going towards the Diamond Jubilee event. Look out in future “Link Up”s for other fund raising ventures over the coming months.
So far the organising committee comprises:
Peter Hall and Carol Pearson (from the Parish Council)
Maggie Hall and Karen Hughes (from the Village Hall committee)
Michael Kingscote (Owner of Lydeard Farm and Outposts)
Mary Johnson (representing Broomfield Church)
